How the data gets in
Your own accounts
Metrics and follower counts arrive through each platform's official API on the access you granted in Connections. Revoke that access at the platform and Postlyra stops reading, immediately and permanently.
Accounts you track
Instagram research uses the official business discovery endpoint, which returns public professional accounts and only the fields Meta chooses to expose. It runs on Postlyra's own platform credentials rather than yours, and it never signs in as anyone.
Hashtags and topics
Instagram meters hashtag search per account, so it runs on your connection and inside your own weekly limit. That is why a brand connects Instagram before searching, and why the limit is stated instead of routed around.
What your browser already sees
The Companion extension ranks the posts your own browser has loaded while you scroll, and imports one when you click it. Postlyra's servers fetch nothing from the platform on that path, and the extension does nothing while the tab is closed.
The trade
Instagram offers no free keyword search on any official API, so topic search is exact hashtags, and hashtag results carry no author because Meta returns none. Research on other accounts sees public professional accounts and nothing further. Each connector does what that network's permissions allow, and some remain in platform review.
Every one of those is a limit worth stating rather than working around. A tool that beats them is spending your account's standing to do it, and that bill arrives later, as a restriction or a ban, on the account you cannot replace.
